What Is China Attestation?

China attestation legalises documents issued in China so UAE ministries, employers, universities and courts accept them. China joined the Hague Convention in November 2023, but UAE ministries typically still request UAE Embassy Beijing + MOFA Dubai stamps.

How the Chain Works

A local Notary Public certifies the document, China Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA / CPAA) authenticates it, the UAE Embassy in Beijing legalises it and MOFA Dubai applies the final UAE stamp.

Why It Matters

UAE employment visas, DHA / DoH / KHDA licensing, family visa sponsorship and Golden Visa applications all require attested China documents. Without the full chain, UAE portals will not accept the certificate.

WHEN YOU NEED IT

When Do You Need China Attestation?

China documents used across UAE education, licensing and immigration routes.

  • China degrees

For KHDA/DHA/MOH licensing and UAE university admission. See degree attestation.

  • Vital records

Birth, marriage and death certificates for family visa. See marriage attestation.

  • Police clearance

China PCC for UAE Golden Visa and long-stay applications. See PCC services.

  • Corporate documents

Incorporation, board resolutions and POAs — see commercial attestation.

The Process

Four steps, handled by us.

Four coordinated stages from local notary to MOFA Dubai.

  1. 01

    Notary / Local Authority

Local Notary Public or issuing authority certifies the document as the first authentication step.

  2. 02

    China Ministry of Foreign Affairs

China Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA / CPAA) authenticates the notarised document at national level.

  3. 03

    UAE Embassy Beijing

UAE Embassy in Beijing legalises the authenticated document for UAE acceptance.

  4. 04

    MOFA Dubai

Final attestation at UAE MOFA Dubai unlocks acceptance across UAE government portals.

Documents required

Your document checklist.

Documents typically required to start China attestation from the UAE.

Original China document

Original signed and sealed certificate — degree, PCC, vital record or corporate document.

Passport & UAE visa

Colour scan of the holder's passport bio page and UAE residence visa or entry stamp.

Authorisation letter

If a family member or agent holds the original in China, a signed authorisation letter is required.

Purpose letter

UAE employer, university or licensing body letter stating the reason for attestation.

Avoid rejections

Top reasons documents get rejected.

Preventable issues that stall China attestation.

  • Missing prior legalisation

Documents submitted directly to the embassy without proper local notarisation and China Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication are rejected.

  • Digital / unsealed copies

Only originals with wet signatures and seals are accepted — scanned PDFs cannot be attested.

  • Name mismatch

Spelling differences between certificate, passport and Emirates ID block downstream UAE applications.

  • Photocopy or laminated

Photocopies and laminated originals must be re-issued before attestation can proceed.
