What Is Spanish Attestation?

Spanish attestation legalises documents issued in Spain for UAE use. Spain is a Hague Convention country — Ministerio de Justicia, Ministerio de Educación or the Tribunal Superior issues the apostille depending on document type. UAE authorities still require UAE Embassy Madrid and MOFA Dubai stamps on top, plus certified Arabic translation.

How the Chain Works

Educational títulos route via Ministerio de Educación (Alta Inspección); judicial and notarial documents via Ministerio de Justicia; commercial documents via camera de comercio. All apostilled documents then go to the UAE Embassy in Madrid, MOFA Dubai and a certified Arabic translator.

Why It Matters

UAE employment visas, DHA / DoH / KHDA licensing, family sponsorship, Golden Visa and company registration all require attested Spanish documents with certified Arabic translation. The apostille alone is not accepted by UAE ministries.

WHEN YOU NEED IT

When Do You Need Spanish Attestation?

Spanish documents used across UAE education, licensing and immigration routes.

  • Títulos & transcripts

For KHDA/DHA/MOH licensing and UAE university admission. See degree attestation.

  • Registro civil

Nacimiento, matrimonio and defunción for family visa. See marriage attestation.

  • Antecedentes Penales

Spanish police clearance for UAE Golden Visa. See PCC services.

  • Registro Mercantil

Nota simple, escritura and invoices — see commercial attestation.

The Process

Four steps, handled by us.

Four coordinated stages from Spanish issuer to MOFA Dubai.

  1. 01

    Notario / issuer

Notario certifies signatures where required; university, ayuntamiento or issuing body signs the original.

  2. 02

    Ministerio apostille

Ministerio de Educación for títulos; Ministerio de Justicia for judicial/notarial; camera de comercio for commercial.

  3. 03

    UAE Embassy Madrid

UAE Embassy in Madrid legalises the apostilled document for UAE acceptance.

  4. 04

    MOFA + translation

MOFA Dubai finalises attestation and a certified Arabic translation is prepared where required.

Documents required

Your document checklist.

Documents typically required to start Spanish attestation from the UAE.

Original Spanish document

Original signed and sealed document — título, Antecedentes Penales, registro civil or Registro Mercantil.

Passport & UAE visa

Colour scan of the holder's passport bio page and UAE residence visa or entry stamp.

Certified Arabic translation

Required for most UAE ministries after MOFA Dubai attestation. Handled in-house by Benchmark.

Poder / authorisation

If a family member or agent holds the original in Spain, a signed poder or authorisation letter is required.

Avoid rejections

Top reasons documents get rejected.

Preventable issues that stall Spanish attestation.

  • Wrong ministerio

Educational títulos must go through Ministerio de Educación — not Ministerio de Justicia. Using the wrong authority restarts the chain.

  • Recent Antecedentes required

UAE authorities typically require the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales issued within the last 3 months.

  • Name mismatch

Spelling differences between certificate, passport and Emirates ID block downstream UAE applications.

  • Missing Arabic translation

UAE ministries reject Spanish-only documents — certified Arabic translation is required after MOFA Dubai.
